Elm* was referred to us from Rosanna Baptist Church in January 2024. As an asylum seeker who had recently arrived in Australia, they were in need of both housing and help to establish themselves in this new country. 3081 Hope stepped in to support short term accommodation while also working closely with other local agencies to secure a longer term solution. We were able to support Elm obtain a drivers licence and working with children’s check. With the assistance of 3081 Hope and the great work of local agencies, Elm has been able to secure permanent employment in Queensland. We thank Elm for working with us and wish then a wonderful time in Australia.

Willow* was referred to us for inclusion in the Skillz4Women program in 2021 by a local community organisation where she had completed several learning and development programs with a strong motivation to enter the workforce.

She was able to express her goals and discussed with our mentors the best way to gain qualifications in cyber security while balancing family and personal commitments.

Willow and her Skills4Women mentors researched training courses and worked together to complete the enrolment and get everything ready for her to commence classes in 2022. Now the training is underway, Willow meets regularly with her Skills4Women mentors to discuss challenges, celebrate successes and get ready to enter the workforce in 2023.

3081 Hope thanks Willow for her commitment, hard work and determination to achieve, and we look forward to continuing our relationship into a rewarding job and will be there to support her as she takes the first steps into this exciting new career.

Beech* was referred to us for inclusion in the Skillz4Women program in 2021 by a local community organisation where she had completed learning and development programs but was unsure on what she wanted to do as a job and needed support to work out her next steps. Skills4Women mentors met with Beech during 2021 and 2022 to discuss her areas of interest and to investigate options for her future. Several introductions to local business owners were made and discussions of how to take up opportunities that were presented. Beech appreciated the catch-ups with her Skills4Women mentors and has now moved to an independent approach to her career. We thank Beech for her involvement and wish her well for the future.
